What is LASGP?
Who can join LASGP?
Any doctor who is working, or intends to work, as a Sessional GP in the Lothian area is welcome to apply for Membership. You must, of course, be properly registered with the GMC and possess a valid JCPTGP/PMETB (or equivalent) certificate.
How much will it cost?
Membership is gained through a £36, non-refundable subscription, payable in full each March.
New members joining part-way through the year pay a pro-rata amount based on a figure of £3 for each part-month or full-month remaining of the current membership year. Reduced payments for membership periods of less than one full year will not otherwise be accepted.
What do I get for my membership fee?
- full access to all areas of the LASGP website, including the Forum area where jobs are advertised and a private area exclusive to Members only
- free educational events, held on the first Wednesday evening of each month, except January
- your interests as a Sessional GP represented on the Lothian LMC and within various Trust structures
- contact with other Sessional GPs in the area, whose advice you will find invaluable
What should I do now?
- take photocopies of your GMC and JCPTGP/PMETB certificates
- make out a cheque to 'Lothian Association of Sessional GPs' for the appropriate sum (see 'How Much Will it Cost' above)
- send them all to: c/o Ian McCulloch, LASGP Hon Sec, 3 Royston Terrace, Edinburgh, EH3 5QU
- remember to include your email address with your cheque and Certificates
- register for access to this site by clicking either 'Members' or 'Practice Managers' on the left, then click the 'Register' link (below the 'Log In' boxes) on the following page. Your email address will be noted, and once your application is approved (see later) you will be sent a password to access the site. (You can change the password to one of your own choice later)
- WHEN (and ONLY when!) your documentation has been approved, you will be sent two emails, one from the Secretary welcoming you to the LASGP, and the other directly from the website, containing the password for full access to the site.
- don't forget to renew your membership each March! There is a six-week period of grace. If you have not paid by the end of this, your access will be denied.
