What is LASGP?

LASGP (previously known as The Lothian Association of Non-Principals or LANP) now has over 140 members - almost all of whom live in the Lothian area.

We are each at various stages in our medical careers - some have only recently qualified as GPs and others are nearing retirement.

We are a voluntary group of doctors who believe that Sessional GPs deserve better support, better educational opportunities and improved status and recognition by our medical colleagues.

We are NOT an employment agency: we neither fix rates of pay nor monitor the clinical skills of our colleagues. But we remain convinced that without the unique contribution to the NHS that Sessional GPs make, Primary Care would struggle to cope....
